Marcy Axness |
I want to tell about this journey:
Last term, when I was writing my bachelor degree text I decided to follow up Dr. Bruce Lipton´s theories about epigenetics related to childhood and the way the environment shapes the outcome of the way we raise our children.
A simple search on the net lead me to Dr. Marcy Axness´work in the field and was the beginning of my new passion: A preschool for a better world!
What a better way than start this space with my favourite book:
I discovered an amazing oportunity for all of us, to create, reshape ourselves and our children and most important to create a better world!
On her site will you find a lot of interesting areas to explore and reflect about:

About the author:
Marcy Axness, PhD, is an early development specialist, international speaker. She is a top blogger at Mothering.com and a member of their expert panel. Featured in several documentary films as an expert in adoption, prenatal development and Waldoft educacion. Dr. Axness has a private practice coaching parents-in-progress.
Her book focuses mostly on parenting (from pre-conception through adolescence) but I found a lot of valuable things to incorporate in my work with preschoolers.
If parents must be aware of how important they are for their own children I asume that teachers aswell affect many kids´ lifes by just being around them everyday at preschool/school.
Axness´ seven principles included in her book encompass individual differences in temperament, sensibilities, pacing and cultural orientation and are used as a guide for parenting. Her book offers aswell information from the latest research avaliable in different areas.
For Axness, example is the ultimate mode of teaching -and learning.
My favourite quote from the book:

My favourite quote from the book:
"...the adults in a young child´s life have a responsibility to create an environment – including themselves, their speech and actions- that is worthy of his unquestioning imitation" (Axness 2012:243).
And it is this "child´s unquestioning imitation´s idea" that moved in to my mind and became my own work in progress project to offer (everyday and at every moment) the very best of me in my work with kids.
Easier to say it than doing it if you put into the mix daily routines and life´s issues. But the best motto to live after if I want to make a difference in this world!
